To carry out the vision statement of our church of becoming a Caring, Christ-Centered , Community Church, with a Kingdom Agenda we must realize that Christian Education, which is discipleship, is a key component in reaching our vision and the mandate of Scripture.
Discipleship is not automated but we must take time out and be intentional, involving ourselves in the process (study/discipleship) to become Christ-like. One author caught the idea when he entitled his book “Disciples are Made Not Born” to communicate the importance of the process. In the process, through the Holy Spirit God changes our personalities (fruit bearers), our core values, grows our relationship with God and others. To ignore spiritual growth (discipleship) is to become none caring, cold, stagnant, miserable, and not involved in the Kingdom agenda. Christian discipleship is designed to be exciting and a challenging adventure, which must be our top priority.
Finally, true Christian discipleship is the sole responsibility given to the church as expressed in: Matt 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations ……….” and not to any other earthly agency. Whether we label it Christian education, spiritual growth, discipleship growth, which are synonymous terms, our involvement ultimately honors the Lordship of Christ.
Let us covenant to come together in various teaching forums to be inspired, instructed and transformed through the study of God's Word. To find out more about our Christian Education opportunities, click the link dropdowns under the Education button. Come let us grow together.
